RELEASE INFORMATION

Kapolioka'ehukai, meaning "heart of the sea" in Hawaiian, tells the bigger than life story of surfing legend Rell 'Kapolioka'ehukai' Sunn (1950-1998), a pioneer of women's surfing, known as "Queen of Makaha." Born in 1950, she began surfing at four, became a top-ranked pro in the 1970s and '80s, and was loved internationally as an ambassador of the Aloha culture of grace and warmth. At age 32, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and told she had just a year or two to live, she legendarily lived life to the full for fifteen more years."

The single, which spans the genres of reggae, folk, rock, and jazz comes out on July 31st, 2020, what would have been the surfing legend's 70th Birthday. We are releasing the single with the cooperation of Rell Sunn's family and the
Rell Sunn Educational Fund.

Band line up: Charnett Moffett (b), Brian Jackson (p), Scott Tixier (v), Mark Whitfield Jr (d)
