Hailing from Havana, Cuba, and now based in New York City, the Grammy-nominated and classically trained pianist/percussionist/composer Elio Villafranca is deeply rooted in the rhythmic traditions of the Caribbean while also expansive in his embrace of finest elements of traditional and modern jazz.

Comprised of some of the most respected jazz A-listers and Caribbean hand-drum masters in New York City, Villafranca’s captivating Jass Syncopators entwine the best of traditional and contemporary jazz with the rhythms of four Island cultures, creating a distinctive musical gumbo on "Caribbean Tinge", Villafranca’s 7th release as a leader.
