Attention playlisters and DJ’s: On Oct. 18th, Motema with Heartcore Records will release an album of radio edits of each track from the classic Geri Allen/Kurt Rosenwinkel concert album A LOVESOME THING. This highly praised album, recorded in 2012 has been submitted for consideration for the Best Historical Album in the 67th Annual Grammy awards. The 1st single from an album dear to Motéma’s heart, the exquisite duo project A Lovesome Thing, (recorded live in Paris in 2012) is out now and has been featured as the lead track on TIDAL’s GROWN JAZZ playlist this week. Pre-order/Pre-save the album and hear the single on your platform of choice. The single, Open-Handed Reach was penned by Allen to tribute Dr. Billy Taylor. This is the first and only recording of the song. The single Simple #2, is written by Rosenwinkel and makes its debut here.
