Motema is proud to add saxophonist/composer/producer Ben Wendel to our 2016 roster. The New York Times’ Nate Chinen announces Wendel’s upcoming Motema release What We Bring, out in September. The album marks a new step forward in Wendel’s career, while carrying over themes from his latest project, The Seasons. Described by Chinen as “a vividly imagined collection of duets,” The Seasons is a video series consisting of 12 compositions dedicated to 12 artists over a month long period. Ben Wendel celebrates the completion of The Seasons with live performances at The Jazz Gallery this weekend (Friday & Saturday, sets at 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm).
