In April 2019 Metropole Orkest invited saxophonist Donny McCaslin to play his music with the 50-piece orchestra. This live recording was shot in LantarenVenster, Rotterdam, and will be available to view on YouTube on December 29th.

Saxophonist and David Bowie Blackstar bandleader Donny McCaslin today released two new singles – Head of Mine (featuring fellow Bowie collaborator, and recent The National collaborator Gail Ann Dorsey) and Tokyo a beautiful instrumental track featuring McCaslin’s powerful saxophone. The singles build on the momentum of McCaslin’s acclaimed and genre-transcending album, Blow., which came out in November of 2018.

Donny McCaslin and bandmates will be performing music from his latest album Blow. at BRIC with a video installation by filmmaker and visual artist, Johnny Moreno. Doors open at 7pm, and the show starts at 8pm.

McCaslin’s ‘Blow.’ was featured on VICE Noisey as one of 12 New Albums for Heavy Rotation. Noisey writer, Alex Robert Ross, says, “It’s rich and unpredictable, and the near ever-presence of vocals—in particular from Age of Electric/Limblifter singer Ryan Dahle—turns the sound on its head.”
